If you are being asked for a product (which you shouldn't be!), the likely culprit is the file extraction step. Follow these install instructions closely:
PC
- Close Word before beginning.
- Click on the file: "EN20Install.zip" and select "Save". Be sure to note where it is saved (usually "Downloads").
- Open the folder where the file is saved, then Right-click on the file and choose "unzip" or "extract". You must UNZIP or EXTRACT the files for the install to work
- Once the files unzip, open the "EN20Install" folder and double-click on the "EN20Inst.msi" file to begin installation.
- Follow the prompts to complete the typical installation.
- Close the unzip window, if necessary. You can delete the EN20Install.zip after the installation is complete.
- Open EndNote from the Start>Programs menu first. Then open a library. Last open Word. This will allow all the Cite While You Write components to install properly.
Mac
- Open the "EndNote20SiteInstaller.dmg” file.
- Double-click the "Install EndNote 20" image.
- This will bring up an image with "Licensed to: SCRIPPS RESEARCH"
- Click Install. Note: This may take some time to complete.
- This will launch the EndNote 20 application with options to customize the installation.
- Click through these screens to complete the installation. You should not be prompted for a Product Key.
